Voicing Space [2025]

Performance for turntable, live electronics and multichannel audio system where sound and space interact with each other in a multifaceted exploration.

Starting with the real-time manipulation of voices sourced from a selection of vinyl records combined with electronic elements, the performance – developed in March 2025 with the support of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on the Voice in Bologna – revolves around the creation of immersive, ever-changing soundscapes, where architecture and sound intertwine, exploring the relationship between sound, space and listening.
Through the spatialisation of sound elements and their multi-channel diffusion, the listening space takes on a voice of its own, becoming no longer merely a physical container, but a living, dynamic parameter capable of enveloping and guiding perception. At the same time, the use of vinyl, with its physicality and its almost ritualistic gestures, encourages reflection on the relationship between gesture, sound and the experience of musical performance, drawing a link between analogue and electronic instruments.
